Day
01 - Arrival. Meet,
greet and proceed to Kandalama
en-rout visiting the Pinnawela
Elephant Orphanage to see abandoned baby elephants being fed
and trained. After spending some times with baby elephants
proceed to Kandalama
Hotel. Rest of the day at leisure. A walk around the Kandalama
Lake or an Elephant Ride (on a supplement) can be suggested.

Day
02 - After breakfast
proceed to Sigiriya.
Explore Sigiriya,
the rock fortress of Kashyapa's which dates back to the 5th
century AD. See the ruins of Kashyapa's palace on the summit
of the gigantic rock Sigiriya,
collection of ancient frescoes, the pleasure gardens and also
explore the rock fortress. On completion proceed to Polonnaruwa.
Do a city tour of Polonnaruwa,
an ancient capital which rose to fame in the 12th century
BC. Ruins of buildings indicate that a very advanced civilization
thrived in Polonnaruwa.
During the tour of the ruined city visit the ruins of the
Council Hall, the ruins of the palace, the ruins of the temple
of Shiva, the ruins of Watadage (a circular image house),
the Sathmahal Prasadhaya (a seven storied edifice), the rock
inscription of Nissankamalla and the Gal Vihare where three
sculptured statues of Buddha is found. Further, many other
interesting sites like the Polonnaruwa
Statue, the Ocean of Parakrama, the ruins of the library will
be also visited. Return to Hotel. Dinner / overnight stay
at Kandalama

Day
03 - After breakfast
proceed to the Dambulla
caves, which dates back to the 1st century BC. The walls of
this cave are covered with ancient frescoes and some of the
oldest statues of Buddha are also found here. On completion
return to Hotel. In the afternoon experience an Ayurvedhic
Body massage.

04 - After breakfast
proceed to Kandy en-route
stop at a spice garden to see and sample a wide variety of
spices. Many battles were waged by the Portuguese, the Dutch
and the British to control this lucrative trade, centuries
ago. Also en-route visit a batik factory. Reach Kandy.
Kandy was the last
stronghold of the Sinhala Kings and was finally handed over
to the British after resisting the Portuguese, the Dutch and
the British for many centuries. It is surrounded by hills
and offers a very pleasant climate Check-in at Earls Regency
Hotel. Afternoon at leisure. In the evening visit the Temple
of the Tooth Relic and also witness a cultural show. Dinner

05 - After breakfast do
a city tour of Kandy
visiting, the Kandy
Bazaar, the Kandy lake,
a handicraft centre, a gem house/lapidary and also the Peradeniya
botanical gardens which was originally the pleasure gardens
of the royalty. Today nearly 4000 species of plants are found
here. Afternoon at leisure. Dinner / overnight stay at Earls
Regency Hotel. |

06 - After breakfast
proceed to the central highlands en-route visiting a tea estate/factory
to study the process of tea manufacture which is world famous.
The route to the highlands offers the traveler some of the
finest views of the hill country in Sri Lanka. In the afternoon
explore the hill town of Nuwara

Day
07 - After breakfast
proceed to Colombo
via Kithulgala. Kitulgala was the location where the famous
film 'Bridge on the River Kwai' was filmed. Also en route
observe the waterfalls St. Clare's and Devon. Check-in at
Taj Samudra Hotel. Do a shopping tour of Colombo.
